Zoe Morfas - Film/Game Composer

Zoe Morfas is a composer from Los Angeles, California, who is currently studying Music Composition and Earth & Planetary Sciences at Northwestern University. Morfas has composed music in many different genres such as rock, pop, contemporary classical, and some experimental styles. In addition to the concert setting, her music has been featured in films, video games, and other digital media (see Projects, Music).

In 2018, Morfas received a research grant from Northwestern University to study techno music in Berlin, studying how the composition of techno music is affected by the relationship between producers, DJs, and live audience. 2019 saw the premieres of works 0101 by Northwestern’s Contemporary Music Ensemble in addition to soft as she is which was performed by The Renaissance Singers. Most recently, 2020 featured the premiere of is anyone there? with a performance by Ensemble Dal Niente.

At Northwestern, Morfas was formerly the Co-President and Publicity Chair of the Pioneers of Interactive Entertainment, Northwestern University’s premier video game development club. She has collaborated on video game projects with students from this organization, including composing original music for published Steam game Spark and the Digital Daydream.
